Communities In Schools works within the public school system, determining student needs and establishing relationships with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers, and parent and volunteer organizations to provide needed resources. Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
Our unique model positions site coordinators inside schools to assess students’ needs and provide resources to help them succeed in the classroom and in life. Whether its food, school supplies, health care, counseling, academic assistance or a positive role model, Communities In Schools is there to help!
The purpose of the Site Coordinator is to fill in the gaps and provide services as needed for the students. There is no limit to how much help CIS can provide a student and no need is too big or too small. Not only does CIS provide resources for the student but we also provide them for the school as needed. The CIS site coordinator will work with other providers and social workers to ensure all needs are being met. A student CAN see the CIS Site Coordinator while obtaining other services in the school. CIS Site Coordinator will carry a caseload of students but will also provide services and activities which are open to the entire student population.
