Television, Film and Digital Media

READY SET FILM gives students an inside look at how film and television shows are made. This TWHTV STUDIOS is an entry-level course and offers students a wide range of opportunities to learn the fundamental skills, procedures, and set etiquette required to work within the television and film industry.

Students will be exposed to all aspects and requirements of the production environment for television and film from start to finish. They will take on the roles and responsibilities of crew members and begin developing the skills needed to work in production design, grip and rigging, lighting and electric, sound, hair and makeup, camera operation, cinematography, directing, acting, and broadcasting.

Students who successfully complete the course and the CTE/FEIO certification and endorsement process will be eligible for employment as a production assistant within the Oklahoma television and film industry upon graduation.

*PREREQUISITE(S): Fundamentals of Technology; Required for all students entering Webster’s TWHTV STUDIOS Television, Film, & Digital Media Program.

TWHTV STUDIOS | SCRIPT 2 SCREEN brings the Hollywood way of making films and television programming to students in Oklahoma and serves as the backdrop for students to continue mastery of the skills, procedures, and set etiquette required to work in the television and film industry.

Emphasis is placed on greater input and responsibilities as students work through the entire production process for TV and film projects. Students will identify and begin to demonstrate increased proficiency in the areas and departments of interest available in the TV and film industry. These areas of emphasis include production design, grip and rigging, lighting and electric, sound, hair and makeup, camera operation, cinematography, directing, acting, and broadcasting.

Students who successfully complete the course and the CTE/FEIO certification and endorsement process will be eligible for employment in the Oklahoma television and film industry upon graduation.

TWHTV STUDIOS | THAT’S A WRAP gives students the chance to showcase their talents and abilities as they dive deeper into the TV and film process.

Mastery and proficiency of all aspects of the production environment, as well as the essential skills, procedures, and set etiquette required to work in the television and film industry are on display. Students will assume leadership roles and responsibilities and apply what they have learned as they work in the various areas and departments of interest to help produce a wide range of TV and film projects with adherence to the highest standards. As with other courses, these areas of emphasis include production design, grip and rigging, lighting and electric, sound, hair and makeup, camera operation, cinematography, directing, acting, and broadcasting.

For many students, this course may be the culmination and conclusion of all their experiences in the TWHTV STUDIOS Television, Film, and Digital Media Program, truly signifying the industry term “That’s a wrap”!

Students who successfully complete the course and the CTE/FEIO certification and endorsement process will be eligible for employment in the Oklahoma television and film industry upon graduation.

TWHTV STUDIOS | SETS & SOUNDSTAGES offers students a more detailed look at how films and television shows are made in a controlled environment.

The focus is on the production process from beginning to end for TV and film with an emphasis on the studio and soundstage experience and offers students a wide range of opportunities to demonstrate continued mastery of the skills, procedures, and set etiquette required to work in the television and film industry.

Working as crew members, students engage in the roles and responsibilities for TV and film and continue working in the specific areas and departments of interest. These areas include production design, grip and rigging, lighting and electric, sound, hair and makeup, camera operation, cinematography, directing, acting, and broadcasting.

Students will be eligible for employment in the Oklahoma television and film industry upon successful completion of the course and the CTE/FEIO certification and endorsement process upon graduation.

TWHTV STUDIOS | BACKLOTS & BEYOND takes students through the entire production process with an emphasis on remote/on-location production techniques and the challenges faced for a variety of filming conditions.

Students continue to demonstrate mastery of the skills, procedures, and set etiquette needed to work in the television and film industry. Students will focus more time working as crew members performing the roles and responsibilities in the specific areas and departments for TV and film where they have the greatest interests, talents, and abilities. Those areas include production design, grip and rigging, lighting and electric, sound, hair and makeup, camera operation, cinematography, directing, acting, and broadcasting.

Students who successfully complete the course and the CTE/FEIO certification and endorsement process will be eligible for employment in the Oklahoma television and film industry upon graduation.

TWHTV STUDIOS | CUTS & CONTINUITY-EDITING shows students how the art of editing can influence films and television shows.

Students go beyond the basics of video editing and are introduced to the advanced editing techniques used in the television and film industry. “Personal Style” and “Voice” are explored and developed as they learn the concepts and skills of editing on professional level productions. Students are taken through the production process as they learn how a director’s vision influences the final look and feel of a film or television show.

Students in the course will serve as the lead editors on major productions and projects for TWHTV STUDIOS.

Students who successfully complete the course and the CTE/FEIO certification and endorsement process will be eligible for employment in the Oklahoma television and film industry upon graduation (Available at Webster only).

TWHTV STUDIOS | VFX TRICKS & TECHNIQUES helps take some of the mystery out of the “How’d they do that?” moments in television and film.

Students will focus on the area of visual effects and the tools and techniques used by the TV and film industry. From onset practical effects to digitally produced effects, students learn how and when visual effects are used to tell compelling stories. Students will work alongside other crew members throughout the production process from pre-production to postproduction and apply their knowledge and skills to the process of using visual effects.

Students who successfully complete the course and the CTE/FEIO certification and endorsement process will be eligible for employment in the Oklahoma television and film industry upon graduation (Available at Webster only).

TWHTV STUDIOS | SET READY-CAPSTONE is the culmination of a student’s time and efforts in the TWHTV STUDIOS Television, Film and Digital Media program.

Internships in the television and film industry and additional industry certifications will be utilized to allow students to demonstrate mastery and reinforcement of the skills, procedures, and set etiquette necessary for successful employment in the industry. The internships will serve as opportunities to network with professionals in the TV and film industry and as a springboard for employment.

Students will finalize portfolios that highlight skills and certifications. Students may also undertake special projects, cross-train, or participate in industry-based learning opportunities to enhance skills in accordance with industry demands.

Students who successfully complete TWHTV STUDIOS | SET READY-CAPSTONE and receive FEIO certification and endorsement will be eligible for employment in the Oklahoma television and film industry upon graduation (Available at Webster only).

*Prerequisite(s): INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL & STUDENT INTERVIEW. MUST BE A SENIOR WANTING TO WORK IN THE TV/FILM INDUSTRY.

Students will be introduced to digital photography.  Additionally, students will understand copyright basics as they relate to digital photography.
