STUDENT IDENTIFICATION
- Student ID badges must be worn on a lanyard around the student’s neck.
- Replacement IDs may be purchased throughout the school year in the Middle School or High School offices for $1.
- ID photos must clearly show the student’s head and neck.
- IDs may not be altered, covered, colored on, damaged, or disfigured with stickers or other markings.
- If a student’s ID is not visible or properly displayed, the student will be asked to correct it.
- Failure to properly display an ID will result in consequences.
- For safety reasons, all school personnel must be able to clearly identify every student on campus.
- If an ID is damaged, torn, shredded, or otherwise unreadable, the student may be required to replace it at their own cost.
- Displaying another person’s ID, a false ID, or an altered ID will result in consequences.
- ID checks will be conducted at the start of every school day and throughout the school day at random times.
- Students who are not displaying their ID at any point during a school day will be given lunch detention/community service.
- Failure to report to lunch detention will result in additional consequences.
BAGS
All bags will be searched when students enter the school building. This includes mini bags inside your bags. If you bring a bag or sack for lunch, makeup, or anything else, the bag will be searched before entry to school. You will walk through the metrasense metal detector with your bag, you will need to remove all electronic/metal items as you enter.
High School students must keep their backpacks in their lockers at all times during the school day. No backpacks are permitted in the classrooms, common areas, bathrooms, and hallways after the first bell of the school day. Small purses, pencil bags, and cosmetic pouches are allowed to be carried during the school day. School administrators reserve the right to restrict certain bags at any time. Backpacks not stored in a locker will be confiscated and not accessible until the end of the school day.
TPS has a clear bag policy for ALL athletic events. No student nor visitor, parent, staff or guardian may enter an athletic event with a bag that isn’t clear.
DRESS CODE
School Dress codes are necessary to promote a positive learning environment. This is similar to many workplaces. Webster dress code is established to allow for optimal learning for all students and reduce unnecessary distractions. While cultural shifts do occur in dress we strive to maintain a sense of commonality for our student body. All Webster students are expected to abide by our dress code. Much of what we do at school is to prepare our students for success in the workplace. A simple dress code is part of this.
TOPS
- Tops are to cover the shoulder (the guideline is 3 finger width), the armpit area should not be visible (guideline is when hand / arm is raised)
- All tops must have a strap, no strapless tops/dresses. Otherwise cover with a sweater or other item of clothing.
- Shirts must not expose midriff and/or be excessively low cut. A visible belly button / navel is NOT permitted.
- Any clothing that displays illegal content (such as alcohol, tobacco, and drugs) is NOT prohibited. Examples would include (but not limited to) marijuana leaves, alcohol labels, etc…
- Students attending field trips off campus may be required to wear a spirit shirt or a royal blue polo or t-shirt identifying them as a Webster student along with a student ID! You may purchase spirit wear in the spirit store during non class hours.
BOTTOMS
- Pants, shorts or skirts are all acceptable. The general guide is that the shorts or skirts should not be shorter than that person's finger tip length when held straight to their side. If the short or skirt is shorter than finger tip length then the leg area must be covered by longer (appropriate) shorts and or some type of leggings. If pants or clothing has holes in them, the holes MUST be below the finger tip length. Visible underwear / undergarments are not acceptable.
- (All bottoms must come to mid thigh or lower)
- Pajamas are never an option, unless it is pajama day, this means joggers/sweatpants should not have any design on them unless it is a small brand logo. If we think it is pajamas, change it and don’t wear it again.
ACCESSORIES
The following items are not allowed at school in order to promote safety at Webster!
- Hats, ball caps, hoods, or head coverings are NOT to be worn in any building on campus unless permission is given by a teacher for specific reasons. If there is a cultural, medical, or other reason for a head cover the student must have a parental note on file in the main office that has been approved by school administration. If this exception is made it is highly suggested that it will only be for a specific designated time.
- No blankets. Blankets are NOT allowed inside the school building.
- Slippers are not permitted as footwear.
- Accessories (including jewelry) that look like weapons, part of weapons, and / or gang related are NOT acceptable.
HIGH IMPORTANCE
While dress norms vary and often change based on cultural and fashion trends, Webster Middle and High School reserves the right to use administrative discretion regarding any dress-related item deemed inappropriate for the school or work environment. This expectation is consistent with many workplace environments. We ask that all students, with the support of their parents/guardians, work with us to create and maintain a positive, respectful learning environment for everyone.
Webster MS/HS will make every effort to address dress code concerns as students enter the building. However, teachers also have the authority to address suspected dress code violations by asking a student to change, referring the student to the office, or submitting a referral when appropriate.
